Book review - Throne of Glass

"My name is Celaena Sardothien, and I will not be afraid."

As soon as i started reading this book, i knew that i would love it. This is because I knew absolutely nothing about the main character. Usually, mystery surrounds the auxiliary characters and/or the "mission" at hand but this time, it truly was as if I was entering Sarah J. Maas's world for the first time because the main persona was veiled to me. This was my selling point.
I loved how it seemed that the king and his son were complete opposites. This made it possible to be sympathetic towards the son of a tyrannical ruler. The competition, in my eyes, was perfect. This was because it was fairly realistic. It would not make sense if Celaena, after all her years in Endovier, had all her skills intact or if she was the biggest and baddest competitor there. Then we see the dark side of the plot and I am completely blown away.
Magic and mysticism are usually what i look for in a book, so perhaps you can understand why this was my favourite part of the plot. Futhermore, we, the readers, have no idea why everything is happening. But, it seems that Celeana herself knows why she was given this mission or why she had that magic in her. It is then that we learn that there is more to Celaena Sardothien than super-assassin, as if her resume was not impressive enough already.

Final verdict: This is an awesome book that i recommend everyone should read.

Will I read the rest of the series: Definitely

Rating: 5/5
