Publisher's summary: Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl.
Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.
I was very skeptical about reading this book, mainly because there are so many different takes on the classic Cinderella story. However, this take was so fresh and modern, there was no way I could not love it. Cinder is a cyborg. How cool is that! This cyborg does not have an evil stepsisters but she does have an evil stepmother. Iko, the house robot, is absolutely adorable and she may be my favorite character. I love that Meyer chose to make the female lead mechanically inclined, it kind of represents our progressive society and may even encourage young girls to hold this job title, which is traditionally held by men. The romance between Cinder and Prince Kai is sweet but it doesn't overshadow the main plot, which I love. Moon colonies! I love space related stuff! Another thing that I liked was that the characters actually thought about the motivations behind the actions of others and they also thought about the likely results of their own choices. On the other hand, I definitely think that the ending have been better.
Final Verdict: I think you should read this. Its a good book.
Will i read the rest of the series: Yes, and I am currently reading Scarlet which is book 2.
Rating: 4/5
