Book Review - Insurgent

Publisher's summary: One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian DIVERGENT series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.

*DISCLAIMER* This post may contain spoilers

Most of the action of the whole series happened in this book. Just when you thought nothing else could possibly happen, Veronica slams another delicious pie in your face. Some moments of this book had me practically sitting there next to Tris as I could feel exactly the way she did. This book is by no means one you read during the school days; you need a whole weekend to recover from the intensity of its plots. The point where Tris was alone in the Candor’s meeting room was my personal favourite scene, let me know from the comments what yours was.

Many times in this book, I reconfirmed my hate of peter who I always manage to despise even if he does something good. One thing I absolutely loved about this book - I'm being a feminist here- is that it basically proved to Tobias that TRIS IS ALWAYS RIGHT! (not that he learned his lesson). BTW, I hate the name Tobias, I really expected something cooler.

This book manages to be magic in a world without one. The whole whole of the Divergent series is that it could actually become possible at a certain point in humanity’s history. If you read this book to the last page you will know what I'm talking about because what essentially caused this problem is to recent experimentation and breakthroughs in technology.

If I'm allowed to talk about the movie:

I am kinda disappointed in the movie as it took away some very important details in the story’s progress but I'm kinda curious to see how they will make up for those missing links in the next movie.

Final Verdict: I really recommend you not only read this book but also the entire series.

Will I read the rest of the series?: I already have.

Rating: 4.5/5
